My computer lab has just gotten a whole lot more powerful with the addition of a "brand-new" Proxmox server, built from a fantastic donor - an old gaming rig I picked up on finn.no.
At the moment I've just installed a few useful VMs, like ubuntu desktop and server versions, and of course Kali. One VM is dedicated to AI-work and got itself a whole SSD for "unlimited" storage of LLM models.
This beast of a machine boasts:
a potent Geforce 980GTX Ti 6GB graphics card (harnessed for its true potential: accelerating AI workloads)
16 GB of RAM (will be increased to at least 32 GB soon)
250 GB Samsung840 SSD
130 GB OCZ SSD (a really old drive I've been using for more than 10 years now)
1 TB Toshiba SATA HDD
